Carpet Cleaning and Spot Removal
Q. Will a portable carpet cleaning machine clean
as well as a truck mount system?
A. Absolutely not. To clean carpet well or to clean
carpet that is very soiled, five forces of energy
are necessary. With most portable carpet cleaning,
you are only getting two forces which are chemical
action and agitation. With most truck
mounted carpet cleaning systems you are getting all
five forces
which are chemical, agitation, heat (approximately
190 degrees), pressure and extraction. Portables
do extract water and detergent but not nearly what
the truck systems do.
Q. I heard that you should go as long as possible
before you have your carpet cleaned, because
once you do, it will get dirty sooner.
A. This is often true. But it doesn't have to be.
The reason carpet often gets dirty soon after it
has been cleaned is when it was cleaned, too much
carpet cleaning residue was left in the carpet and
then the carpet becomes tacky. This is a common problem
with the use of most portable carpet cleaning machines.
Q. In case of a spill on my carpet when I don't have
a carpet spot remover in my home, is there anything
that I can do?
A. It is very important not to leave any spot set
too long or it may become a permanent stain. First,
scrape
up as much of the substance as possible with a spatula,
butter or putty knife. If it was a liquid spot such
as coffee or tea, first blot as much as you can with
a paper towel or a clean towel. Then mix about a
table spoon of laundry detergent in a bowl of hot
water. Next dip a washcloth or a towel into the solution
and wipe the spot starting at the outside and working
towards the inside. Then get a new bowl of hot rinse
water, put in the cloth and rinse out the detergent.
You may use a hair drier to speed up the drying time.
This same method will also work on most types of
wet cleanable upholstery. It is always a good idea
before using this or any other method of cleaning
carpet or upholstery to experiment in an inconspicuous
spot or on a remnant.
Q. Is there a single carpet and upholstery spot remover
that will remove a lot of different types of spots
and stains, both old and new, including cat or dog
urine, vomit, feces. and blood?
A. Yes. Not only we do sell a product that will do
all of that but it will also permanently remove the
odor from urine, vomit and feces as well. And it's
very reasonably priced. For more information on this
product, click on the website Pet Clean Up & Odor
